ATLANTA, Ga – October 5, 2022 – GTABS Inc. has been awarded the contract to provide essential signal systems engineering support to Wabtec/Xorail Corporation for the new Brightline High Speed Rail Stations located in Aventura, FL and Boca Raton, FL.
GTABS’ support will consist of installing new software at 22 at-highway crossings and 12 sidetracks (control points). This work will enable the Brightline passenger trains to travel safely through intersections at the maximum authorized speed of 79 MPH between the now 4 South Florida stations.
With the signing of the contract today, work will commence mid-December and is set for completion mid-February 2023. “The significance of these new stations cannot be overstated,” says GTABS’ CEO W. Jerome Hall. “The new stations will allow riders the ability to move more freely up and down the east coast peninsula of south Florida, easing gridlock along I-95 and the Florida Turnpike.”
The installation of the stations will provide riders new access points between the existing Brightline Miami and West Palm Beach stations, strongly increasing the likelihood of ridership throughout South Florida.
GTABS’ instrumental project role includes loading and unit testing the critical software at each crossing location, networking the various locations, and providing end-to-end system testing. Additionally, GTABS will provide PTC cab signal configuration and support. Lastly, GTABS will assist with the speed testing trains, verification and commissioning support of the HSR signal system between Aventura and Boca Raton.
